A day at Marwell Zoo with a scooter, camera and dark glasses

We went to the zoo
Zoo zoo
Here's our day for you
You you
Scooter came too
Too too
We went to the zoo
Zoo zoo

Now that irritating song
Is stuck in your head
Here's what we saw
And some fun that we had

Marwell zoo
Was the park to be
Third time lucky
Without rain you see

Arrived before opening
Surprised to see queues
We all saw sunshine
And heard rain on the news

With Blue Peter badge
And my blindness to tell
Mike went as a carer
Charity giving as well

First to the penguins
Clockwise all the way
We could stand and watch them
All through the day

Swimming and diving
Flapping on land
Graceful in water
They really are grand

On to flamingos
Flapping this way and that
Squawking at their keeper
"Leave us, don't do that"

Then to the cheetah
Asleep in the sun
I couldn't see her
But the photo was fun

And up to the giraffes
What a sight they are
Such anticipation
Seeing them from afar

Into their house
Many many feet tall
Even the babies
Make us feel small

My scooter beeped
As I tried to go back
The giraffes all turned
The cameras went snap

On through Africa
Gazelles galore
Zebras and leopards
Never a bore

Onto the rhinos
In their new home
Two of them hiding
But one caught in the zone

We knew the tigers
Would be hard to see
But around the corner
We saw one get to its knees

Meerkats are amazing
Going this way and that
Endlessly busy, unless
Sunbathing on their backs

Serval and Ocelot
Are smaller wild cats
It was great to see them
And read all their facts

Even the wild ass
Real pleasure they bring
Then onto the aviary
So many birds on wing

In wallaby wood
I scooted alongside
But they were not bothered
Kept lieing on their side

The reptile house
Entertained the throng
But it was too dark
There I didn't belong

Onto macaques
Babies hanging on
A brilliant troupe
Swinging along

Away in the distance
A noise filled the air
But the tropical house
Came before we got there

Then we found the lemurs
So many different sorts
Some of them resting
Most up to their sports

Of flying and leaping
Making a racket
So much energy
Wish I could pack it

Snow leopards and owls
Are fantastic to see
Elegant power
Majestic beauty

But not to be beaten
Two Pygmy hippos
Splashing in their pool
Swimming skills to show

Then lastly a giant
A favourite of Mike
Giant anteater
What's not to like

What more to say?
Well look at these pics
Behind selfies galore
Which animal is which?

    1. It's especially good when the animals are cooperative and the new enclosures really seem to help them be comfortable around humans and in their own zone

  11. Love the rhyme telling the story of your day out - I used to love Marwell Zoo but haven't been there for years. The giraffes were always my favourite and they used to have red pandas back then too which I also loved. Thanks for hosting #TreasuredMoments :-)
